Church service in response to Question 1

AUGUSTA - A special service of grief and healing, in response to the Question 1 repeal of the right of same sex couples to marry, is set tonight at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church at 69 Summer Street.

The service is "for anyone who feels particularly crushed by the election, to be together in grief and love and healing," said Maggie Ricker, a representative of the Augusta church.

The service is at 6:30 tonight and is open to anyone.

Several ministers from the area will be on hand, Ricker said, offering prayers of healing, and attendees may also speak about the topic themselves.

Ricker said the Rev. Carie Johnsen, minister of the church, has also arranged for grief counselors to be available over the next several weeks.
