Doucette, Leighton win RSU 18 seats

OAKLAND - Incumbent Donna Doucette won a sixth term on an Oakland-based school board Tuesday, and Doreen Leighton won a three-way race for a one-year term on the Regional School Unit 18 board of directors.

Doucette easily defeated Zlatko Necevski, 1,837-390, to keep her position on the RSU 18 board. She had served for five terms on the School Administrative District 47 board, prior to consolidation.
Owner of a preschool/nursery school, Doucette stressed the importance of small class sizes, and a comfortable environment for both teachers and students.

Leighton also won easily. She got 1,089 votes to 601 for Lawrence Folsom, a former SAD 47 director. Cathy McKelway, who took the position to fill a vacancy in August, got 518 votes.
